June 23, 2023 - Irrigation Issues

Neighbors,

Wanted to updated everyone on what has been going on with the irrigation system.  There have been multiple line disruptions due to new landscaping and fiber optic installation.  As those problems have been taken care of and the irrigation techs have been problem solving throughout the community; yesterday,  we had a waterline break behind the Hill’s on 70 S and the irrigation filter needed repairing just as two new yards were having sod installed.  New sod requires multiple waterings per day until it gets established.  So those problems have been the priority.

We have been very blessed that the weather has been unusually cool and unusually rainy.  This has provided moisture to help our lawns “hang in there.”  As of tonight, the water should be on throughout the community.

What to expect.  What can you do?

The irrigation system is programmed so each yard is watered every other day.  As the temperature increases, the amount of time the irrigation is on in each yard will increase.  Many yards don’t get watered till late at night or early morning.  If you are concerned the grass is not getting watered, you can put out some empty tuna fish size cans in the planters where the water oversprays the grass to monitor if the sprinklers are going on.  I purchased some plastic water catchers that stake into the ground.  I put a few in the grass, but be sure to remove them before the grass is mowed on Thursday.

If a weeks, if you are still seeing areas in the grass that are stressing, please email or call Kristi at Bridge Street and let her know the location on the property where the problem is.  This will be forwarded to the irrigation team.  It may be a matter of the sprinkler heads needing to be adjusted or replaced.

Norm has been problem solving with the irrigation techs on a daily basis. He took me around the community today and explained the complexity of the system.  My head was ready to explode.  Please give him a big “thank you” for his vigilance.
